The receipt of his travel documents, passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Florida. A 51-year-old immigration detainee died Sunday at a Palm Beach County hospital after testing positive for the coronavirus. The Mexican national’s death is Florida’s first reported COVID-19 death of a detainee. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have notified the Ethiopian Consulate. Negusse has no known next of kin in the United States or in Ethiopia. Consistent with ICE protocol, the appropriate state health and local law enforcement agencies have been notified.
